Distance: you cherish or you forget

As a child, I had shifted from one place to another various times which resulted in me shifting schools as well.

In one case, I had adjusted with my new school pretty easily, the people in my class were very friendly and they helped me adjust to the new environment from day 1. Although I missed my old school friends, I was happy where I was.

In another case, I had shifted schools but everyone already had their own friend group and that made it hard to adapt to the new environment. I missed my previous school friends a lot and wished to return back to them.

In the first case, “out of sight, out of mind” could be seen but in the second case “distance makes the heart grow fonder”.

Both these statements are contradictory but true. They depend on the situation one is placed in, the social environment and various other factors!
