The darkest hour is just before dawn

The darkest hour is just before dawn. If we look at this statement literally, it means before dawn or the light arrives, there is a period of complete darkness i.e. dusk. Metaphorically, it means, to reach the state of lightness or success, an individual has to push through the darkness. Success is preceded by numerous failures. Failures are a part of life and they teach you more about life. They form the path to success.

Not all success stories are filled with rainbows and sunshine. They are filled with sadness, hurt, failure, anger, helplessness, guilt and hopelessness. An individual may feel upset about the way things are going, there may be blockages and periods of helplessness in which the individual feels like giving up. Hearing these stories makes us respect the individual and give a new perspective towards life. It motivates us to not give up and hold on a little bit more. They turn into a person we can relate to and this makes us feel like we are not alone. We face internal pressures where we strive to achieve perfection. We sometimes try to put forth unachievable goals that may lead to more frustration. It is necessary to have realistic goals and a plan to achieve it. Not only internal pressure, but societal pressure makes one lose hope. Too much pressure from the society to do well, to choose a profession they deem as important rather than what really interests you can take you down on the wrong path. Not only this but also bad social relationships and fights with your partner can also have a negative impact on your mental health. Achieving the goal you want is never easy. There might be various changes in life which you aren’t ready for. your life can feel like a drama at times, with all the new characters coming in and all the new experiences you gain. It can really feel overwhelming but it is important to remember that you are not going through this alone. Millions of people struggle through the same things even though experiences of each and every person are different. During these times, you can always listen to the success stories of those who never gave up and always held on.

Don’t be so disheartened if things don’t go your way. Sometimes it all happens for the better. Relying on your social support, reading and listening to inspiring stories, working hard and never giving up is the solution to overcome this phase. Failures are a part of life. Learn to learn from your mistakes rather than doubt yourself. Every single human has the potential to do well. Hold on to that potential and go ahead! Don’t be afraid.
